Why I don’t believe being selfish is a bad thing- particularly for brides to be!

Wedshred Coach

I was always taught that being selfish was a bad thing growing up. When we hear about someone being selfish we instantly think that they’re a bad person or they’re doing something harmful to others.

But I don’t believe that selfish people are bad people… in fact I think they’re some of the BEST! AND I certainly don’t believe that being selfish is harmful to others unless we’re directly going out of our way to hurt them… which I consider to be mean not selfish.

Being selfish is necessary for not just self preservation from all of the stressors life can throw at us (wedding, work, family etc) but also for growth as a human being. We need space and the capacity to go within and tune into ourselves to grow in so many different areas of our lives.

Being selfish doesn’t mean that you don’t love and care for others. You can still 100 percent be selfish and love & care for others. It just means that you put yourself and your well-being before them, so that you don’t burn out or compromise yourself in the process and they will end up getting the best version of you to help and support as best as you can in that moment.

I believe being selfish has made me a better person. It’s made me a better friend, daughter, wife, business owner and human being overall.

Brides to be need to be selfish leading up to their wedding, it is important for their relationship with their fiancé/ husband to be, it’s important for their physical and mental health and wellbeing, it’s important that they have the space and capacity to genuinely enjoy the day (that they’re been planning for months/years) without feeling exhausted and drained.
